A police in uniform and wielding an AK47 rifle was caught in the web of 'sakawa' last Wednesday, when he and two civilians were arrested for allegedly defrauding a Namibian of $7,900.
The policeman and his civilian accomplices were in the process of collecting another $29,000 from the victim to be used to pay taxes on a so-called $30-million facility which they claimed he could access after the payment of the "taxes", when the police arrested them.

Assuring that party processes leading to election of party officers will be conducted in a manner that will facilitate reconciliation among the rank and file of the NPP and thereby reinforce its unity, he said "Ghanaians want to see a strong, united front amongst" the party, so that it can offer the nation "the vibrant, energetic and visionary leadership that they are yearning for by returning our party to government in 2012.

The President, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, has given the assurance that the government will not abrogate previous contracts with investors just to score cheap political points.
He said the government would not antagonize business entities, taking into consideration the adverse consequences of such a move.
President Mills, who was interacting with a number of business people as part of his visit to the United Kingdom, asked investors to look to Ghana as a preferred investment destination.
He, however, reiterated the fact that it was important that the government combed through all existing business contracts to make sure Ghana benefited appropriately.
"I pledged to the people of Ghana that I will at all times defend the interest of the nation and I will not renege on my pledge," the President said.
